Andropause

Andropause is often defined as "male menopause." As a man matures, his production of testosterone begins to slow – sudden, drastic declines in testosterone levels are usually caused by hypogonadism. Andropause occurs as a result of testosterone deficiency – a low free and bio-available testosterone level is found in males with androgen deficiency. It is the decrease in the free form of testosterone that causes the symptoms.

Symptoms of Andropause

Symptoms of male Andropause may include lethargy or decreased energy, decreased libido or interest
in sex, erectile dysfunction with loss of erections, muscle weakness and aches, loss of muscle mass,
increased body fat, difficulty with concentration, inability to sleep, and depression.
•         Low sex drive
•         Erectile dysfunction (ED)
•         Increased irritability or depression
•         Fatigue
•         Reduced muscle mass and strength
•         Inability to concentrate
•         Decreased bone density; osteoporosis

Testosterone Therapy
The symptoms of Andropause can be controlled by the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy. Simple blood work can help our physicians diagnose and begin treating this in men.
